With only a few days left before India presides over the prestigious G20 Summit, efforts are in full swing to restore and embellish the national capital.

Here is a look at the government’s preparation so far:

1.  Roads

Civic agencies in charge of roads are sprucing up 66 arterial roads and stretches across key parts of the city. The roads being revamped under New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) include APJ Abdul Kalam road, Shanti Path, Sardar Patel Marg, Teen Murti Marg, NITI Marg, Tolstoy Marg, C-Hexagon Marg, Man Singh Road and Akbar Road. Apart from that, the MCD has identified four major roads for beautification. They are Bharatendu Harishchandra Marg, Maharaja Surajmal Marg, Somnath Marg and Vikas Marg.

2. Flyovers

The NDMC has installed flags, dynamic lights and decorative poles on Ranjit Singh and Safdarjung flyovers. Apart from that, the flyovers at Lajpat Nagar, Andrew Ganj, Moolchand, Bikaji Cama Place were also renovated.

4. Monuments

The government has decided to give a facelift to 20 smaller monuments that are maintained by the archeological department. This is done by keeping the tourists in mind from the member countries apart from the delegates. Some of the monuments that are being renovated include Baba Ka Gumbad, Bhuli Bhatiyari ka Mahal, Gol Gumbad, Mutiny Memorial , Turkman Gate and Baradari to name a few.

5.  Police Stations

As per officials, the police stations at Aman Vihar, Kalkaji, Connaught Place, North Avenue, Chanakyapuri, Parliament street and others will be refurbished with the official colour scheme of Delhi Police – red and blue

Apart from this, renovation of the hotels, making of sculpture, fountains and removal of solid waste are also being done for the summit.
