A 17-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after being shot twice in Geeta Colony area of Delhi on Tuesday night, in what police believe was a revenge attack linked to an earlier double murder, officials said on Thursday.

The shooting took place around 9:15 PM, as the teenager was returning home from a visit to his aunt in the Rani Garden area. According to the police, the assailants, identified as Amaan (19) and another 17-year-old, have both been taken into custody.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the accused were friends of Shahid and Irshad, who were allegedly murdered by the victim last September,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam.

The victim was riding a scooter when the attackers allegedly opened fire. He was struck on the left side of his head and upper abdomen. A friend rushed him to a nearby hospital in an auto-rickshaw, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
