The Delhi police have arrested three people for beating up and sexually assaulting a 26-year-old man in the east Delhi area on Thursday. The survivor of the crime was also robbed of cash and his mobile phone on the day of the crime.

On July 28, approximately at 2:13 am, a PCR call was received at Preet Vihar police station regarding an injured individual receiving treatment at Hedgewar Hospital. However, the victim was unable to provide a statement at that time due to his condition.

The following day, July 29, the victim informed the police about the harrowing events that transpired. He stated that he had gone to a cafe on Vikas Marg with his girlfriend, where they ordered wine. Afterward, the waiter presented a bill of Rs 2,600, which he disputed. This led to a heated argument with the cafe staff, who then began verbally abusing and physically assaulting him.

Subsequently, the victim was forcefully taken in a car towards Meerut, during which he was subjected to further beating by the accused individuals. Upon reaching Gang Nahar, they robbed him of Rs 8,000, his car key, and his mobile phone. Shockingly, the attackers also recorded a video of the assault and later demanded Rs 50,000 from the victim to prevent its dissemination.

The torment continued as the perpetrators left the victim injured near Vivekanand Mahila College, Vivek Vihar, when his family members came to his aid and rushed him to the hospital for treatment.

Based on the victim’s statement, the police registered a case under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 377 (unnatural offences), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) at the Preet Vihar police station.

Further investigation led to the addition of charges under section 307 (attempt to murder), 384, and 120B of the IPC. As of now, three suspects have been arrested, while efforts to apprehend the remaining individuals involved are ongoing.
