The Bengaluru police have detained three individuals, including the estranged wife of senior tech executive Atul Subhash, who recently died by suicide.

Nikita Singhania was apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana, while her mother, Nisha Singhania, and brother, Anuragh Singhania, were arrested in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.

The arrests took place on Saturday morning, after which they were brought to Bengaluru and presented before a local court. They were subsequently remanded to 14 days of judicial custody, officials added.

Subhash, 34, was discovered hanging at his residence in Munnekolalu, Southeast Bengaluru, on December 9. He left detailed video messages and notes accusing his wife and in-laws of driving him to suicide through “false” cases and “persistent torture.”

The suicide note highlighted legal battles initiated by his wife, including accusations of murder, dowry harassment, and unnatural sex.

One case involved murder allegations related to the 2019 death of his father-in-law. Nikita claimed her father passed away from shock caused by dowry demands of Rs 10 lakh. However, during cross-examination, she admitted the allegations were false and that her father had died from a heart condition.

The note further revealed that Nikita, on behalf of their minor son, had sought Rs 2 lakh as monthly maintenance, initially demanding Rs 1 crore and later increasing it to Rs 3 crore.

The case has led to public outrage, prompting an abetment of suicide case against Nikita Singhania, her mother, brother, and uncle. An FIR was registered under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, based on a complaint filed by Subhash’s brother, Bikas Kumar.
