The Delhi Police has arrested four persons and recovered 372 reels of banned ‘Chinese manjha’ following the bust of an alleged supply network operating across Delhi and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, an officer said on Friday.
The arrests came following specific intelligence about illegal storage and sale of the prohibited synthetic kite string, police said.
On August 6, one Kamran (20) was arrested near DDA Park in Jyoti Nagar and 45 reels of Chinese manjha was recovered from his possession. An FIR was registered in this connection.
During questioning, Kamran disclosed that he had procured the stock from Akash, 38, and Prem Kumar, 65, both residents of Ghaziabad. Subsequent raids led to the arrests of Akash and Prem, with the recovery of 46 and 43 reels of the banned kite string, respectively.
Based on further leads, police raided a location in Delhi’s Ashok Nagar area and arrested Ravi and recovered 238 reels allegedly meant for retail distribution. Police said none of the accused have previous criminal records.
