A 19-year-old e-rickshaw driver was allegedly stabbed to death by his maternal uncle following a dispute over his jhuggi in Paharganj Delhi, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 7.15 pm on August 25.

Officers at the Paharganj police station said they received a PCR call from a neighbour of the victim at around 8.05 pm.

Police have identified the victim as a resident of Aram Bagh Jhuggi, without revealing his name. They said the man was allegedly attacked by his maternal uncle Ravi (39), a resident of Multani Danda in Nabi Karim who worked as an e-rickshaw driver and labourer.

According to the police, the families of the victim and Ravi used to stay together in Aram Bagh earlier but had a dispute over the jhuggi, following which the accused’s family moved out.

On Tuesday, Ravi went to the jhuggi in an inebriated state and stabbed his nephew with a pair of scissors and a small sword, causing critical injuries to his right thigh and arm.

The injured was rushed to the Lady Hardinge Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, police said.

Ravi was arrested within two hours of the crime. The scissors and the sword allegedly used in the crime have been recovered, they said.

A case has been registered under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, they said, adding that Ravi has had three previous criminal involvements.
