Delhi: 46-year-old man shot dead in south Deoli Extension, acquaintance held

Delhi: A 46-year-old man was shot dead in south Delhi’s Deoli Extension area, officials said on Friday, adding that the police have apprehended an acquaintance of the deceased from the spot.

The incident took place on Thursday, they said, adding that a call regarding a firing was received at Tigri police station.

Devender Gupta was found with a firearm injury to his neck and was declared dead, police said.

The accused, identified as Mohid, 36, was apprehended from the spot. A country-made pistol and an empty cartridge were recovered from his possession, they said.

The forensic science laboratory inspected the scene, and relevant evidence was preserved, police said.

Preliminary inquiry has revealed differing versions regarding the motive behind the incident, which are being verified through witness statements, CCTV footage, forensic and ballistic examination and technical evidence, they said.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
