Delhi: A man was critically injured after being shot at allegedly by assailants on a motorcycle near Chhatarpur metro station in South Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Thursday afternoon, police said. The incident is suspected to have stemmed from an old rivalry.
The victim, identified as Arun Lohia, was travelling in his SUV when the shooting occurred around 1PM near CDR Chowk.
“It appears to be a case of old enmity. The accused and the victim belong to the same village and are known to each other. There is a prior case history between them,” said a senior police officer.
According to sources, the attackers fired at least ten rounds at Lohia. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by the police, and his condition is reported to be critical.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and several police teams were deployed to the scene. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed to identify the attackers.
A case is being registered, and further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, two snatchers opened fire at traffic police personnel while attempting to flee after a chain-snatching incident in Shahdara, East Delhi, on Monday evening.
The accused, identified as Imran (27) and Waris (30), were apprehended with the help of the public after trying to escape on a motorcycle. According to police, the duo had snatched a gold chain from a man named Rahul in Chetak Market.
Around 7:20 PM, a PCR call alerted Seemapuri police station that two armed men had been caught near a petrol pump at Chintamani Chowk, where traffic personnel were issuing challans. As the suspects approached the checkpoint, one of them fired a round at the police in an attempt to escape.
Despite the gunfire, the traffic personnel—assisted by bystanders—managed to overpower and detain the duo. Two country-made pistols and the stolen gold chain were recovered from them. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
