Delhi Police nabs nine externees in crackdown

Delhi Police: Delhi Police has apprehended nine externees for violating prohibitory orders in east district, officials said on Sunday.

The coordinated crackdown was launched by multiple teams across police stations to trace offenders violating externment orders.

In Trilokpuri, a team of Mayur Vihar police apprehended Ravinder alias Dimple (35), a bad character of the area, after a chase. Five offenders were held in Pandav Nagar, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, special staff apprehended two offenders in Shashi Garden. Both were linked with criminal activities in the Pandav Nagar area, they said.

In Madhu Vihar, police arrested Anjali Singh, who was externed for nine months but was found living in Mandawali, they said.

DUSU polls: ABVP leading on three posts, NSUI on one after 14 rounds of counting

Aryan Mann of the ABVP was poised for victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, leading his NSUI rival Joslyn Nandita Choudhary by more than 9,800 votes for the president’s post, according to official trends.

The Congress-affiliated NSUI was ahead of the RSS-backed ABVP for the vice president’s post by more than 5,300 votes while the saffron outfit’s candidates were leading for the posts of secretary and joint secretary.

46% dip in US study enquiries, 75% fall for Canada: IDP Education

Enquiries from those aspiring to study in the United States have declined by over 46 per cent in the last one year while those for Canada have come down by around 75 per cent in the last two years, according to top officials at IDP Education.
