
An 18-year-old student was reportedly shot dead by his elder brother on Thursday at their residence in the Nehru Nagar area of southeast Delhi, according to the police.
The accused, Abhishek Aman, fired the gun and then rushed his brother, Akshay Kashyap, to Safdarjung Hospital before fleeing the scene, officials said.
Abhishek, who has a criminal record, was later arrested.
Police received information about the shooting from the hospital at 6:10 am, following which a team from Lajpat Nagar Police Station was dispatched.
“The report mentioned that Akshay was brought in by his brother with a gunshot wound but succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” a police officer stated.
As per police accounts, the incident occurred around 1:30 am on Thursday when 26-year-old Abhishek shot Akshay in the head during an argument, causing fatal injuries.

The bullet fragments also grazed their mother Mohini’s forehead, but she sustained only minor injuries.
Abhishek is listed as a “Bad Character” at Lajpat Nagar Police Station and has four criminal cases against him.
“During questioning, he admitted to the crime, saying the shooting happened after an argument. We have recovered the murder weapon—a pistol along with live rounds and a magazine. A case of murder has been registered against him,” the officer added.
Police revealed that Akshay was a student, while their father, Arun Kumar, runs a home-cooked food tiffin service. Their mother is a homemaker.
