Delhi Police has apprehended three juveniles for allegedly stabbing a 60-year-old factory worker to death during a robbery in Delhi’s Rohini, officials said on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Rajesh, a resident of Shahbad Dairy, was found lying unconscious and bleeding on Pansali Road on June 23.

Police said a PCR call was received regarding a man lying injured on the road stretch between Prem Aadhar Hospital and Pansali Chowk. He was shifted to Dr BSA Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A case of murder was registered at Begumpur police station and an investigation was launched. Rajesh worked as a labourer at a factory in Pratap Vihar and is survived by his married daughter, police said.

Investigators reconstructed his movements from his workplace to the crime scene, conducted local enquiries, examined CCTV footage and used technical surveillance to identify the suspects.

“The investigation gradually narrowed down to three juveniles whose movements matched the timeline of the incident and placed them near the crime scene,” a senior police officer said.

During questioning, the juveniles allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.

According to police, the three had gathered near the spot with the intention to commit robbery. One of the juveniles allegedly intercepted Rajesh while he was riding his bicycle and threatened him with a knife, while the other two restrained him.

When Rajesh resisted, the main accused allegedly stabbed him, police said.

The juveniles then allegedly searched his pockets, took Rs 4,080 in cash and fled from the spot. The amount was later divided among them, police added.
