A driver has been arrested in Goa for allegedly stealing diamond jewellery worth Rs 16 lakh and cash from his employer’s car in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash, police said on Friday.
The accused, Induluri Ranga Reddy (43), had been employed as a driver for the complainant for four months and had closely observed her routine before executing the theft, an official stated.
The stolen items, including a diamond necklace, a pair of diamond earrings, and Rs 50,000 in cash, have been recovered from him, the police confirmed.
According to a senior police officer, the incident was reported on 24 March when a PCR call was received at the Greater Kailash Police Station regarding the theft of jewellery from a locked car parked outside Pahadi Waal Gurudwara in GK-I.
The complainant informed the police that in addition to the diamond jewellery worth Rs 16 lakh, Rs 1.3 lakh in cash had also been stolen.
A case was registered under the relevant section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, police discovered that Reddy was missing, and his phone had been switched off. CCTV footage later confirmed that he had stolen the valuables and fled.

The accused was tracked down and arrested in Goa, where he allegedly confessed to the crime. He was subsequently brought back to Delhi for further proceedings.
During interrogation, Reddy revealed that he had been living in Gurugram before relocating to Delhi in search of a job. After securing employment as a driver, he spent four months studying his employer’s routine before carrying out the theft.
Following the crime, he allegedly fled to the airport, purchased a flight ticket to Goa using the stolen money, and later spent the remaining amount at a casino.
