
A woman and her pet dog were found dead while her husband, a homeopathic practitioner, was admitted to hospital in critical condition after the couple allegedly consumed poison at their residence in Bindapur area of Delhi on Tuesday, police said.
The incident came to light after police received information about a suspected poisoning case at a house in the Dwarka district.
On reaching the spot, police found the body of the woman and the couple’s pet dog inside the house, while the husband had already been shifted to a hospital for treatment, officials said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the doctor couple may have consumed poison along with their pet dog, police said, adding that the exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained.
The condition of the husband is stated to be critical and he remains under medical supervision.
Police have inspected the crime scene and initiated an investigation to determine the reason behind the extreme step. Police said all angles, including personal and professional circumstances, are being examined.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and forensic teams have collected samples from the house as part of the probe, police added.
