Authorities reported that a group of locals allegedly assaulted and stabbed a 20-year-old man at a park in the Kishangarh area of southwest Delhi on Sunday.
The young man, identified as Abhinandan, is a resident of Kishangarh and works as a trainer for children’s athletics. His current condition is stable, and he has been discharged from the hospital.
The incident took place at approximately 9:30 pm on Saturday while Abhinandan and his friend Himanshu (18) were jogging in the park near Abhinandan’s residence.
Following a dispute between the victim and four or five locals, Abhinandan was subjected to physical assault using sticks and a sharp object, resulting in injuries to his eyes, back, and head.
Abhinandan was immediately taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he received medical treatment. He has since been released from the hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest that Abhinandan and his friend intervened in an altercation among a group of locals. The situation escalated, leading to a scuffle between Abhinandan and the group, resulting in the assault.
Authorities have successfully identified all the suspects involved, and efforts are underway to apprehend them. A case has been registered at the Kishangarh police station under sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation into the matter is currently in progress.
