A 47-year-old man, employed as a bus marshal with the Delhi Transport Corporation, was beaten to death following an altercation with his landlord’s nephew in the Karawal Nagar area, police said on Wednesday.
The altercation occurred during the night of March 24 and 25. Satvir sustained severe injuries from being beaten with sticks and rods, resulting in multiple internal injuries, according to a senior police officer.
Initially, a case was filed under IPC section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), but following Satvir’s passing on March 26, the charge was elevated to section 302 (murder).
Satvir had been residing in a rented apartment on the fourth floor of a building in Karawal Nagar for the past two years.
While he lived alone, his landlord Sunil resided nearby, with his nephew Rahul occupying the second floor.
The dispute between Satvir and Rahul reportedly erupted over a minor issue, possibly sparked by Satvir’s alleged use of abusive language during a phone conversation.
This led to a physical altercation, during which Rahul sought assistance from Sunil, resulting in the fatal assault on Satvir.
Rahul has been apprehended by the authorities, with efforts underway to locate and arrest his uncle, Sunil. (With inputs from PTI)
