Delhi: A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Friday night following a scuffle that broke out after his scooter allegedly brushed past a juvenile, police said. Three people, including the minor, have been apprehended in connection with the murder.

The victim, identified as Yash, a resident of Rani Garden, was rushed to a hospital in Laxmi Nagar around 9:41 pm, where he was declared dead.

According to police, the incident unfolded when Yash’s scooter accidentally came into contact with the minor. A verbal altercation ensued, and the minor was soon joined by his associates — Md Amaan and Lucky. The trio allegedly chased Yash towards the Geeta Colony Pusta flyover.

“During the chase, Amaan stabbed Yash in the lower back,” a senior police officer said.

Local residents intervened and rushed Yash to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Md Amaan and Lucky have been arrested, while the juvenile has been taken into custody. A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is underway, police added.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 26-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his father in north Delhi’s Timarpur area after being denied the front seat in a tempo hired to transport the family’s belongings to their native village in Uttarakhand, police sources said on Friday.

The accused, Deepak, was arrested at the scene and police recovered a licensed gun used in the crime, along with 11 live cartridges.

The shooting occurred around 7:30 pm on Thursday near MS Block, Timarpur. Police personnel patrolling nearby heard a gunshot and rushed to the spot, where they found the victim lying in a pool of blood as locals tried to disarm the accused.

The deceased, 60-year-old Surendra Singh, was a retired CISF sub-inspector. He was rushed to HRH Hospital but declared brought dead. The bullet had struck his left cheek, causing severe facial injuries.

Initial investigations revealed the family was relocating to their native place after Surendra’s retirement six months ago. As they loaded their belongings into a tempo, an argument broke out between father and son over who would sit in the front seat. When Surendra insisted on taking the seat, Deepak allegedly grew agitated, fetched his father’s gun, and shot him.

A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is underway.
