A 40-year-old MCD sanitation worker was found dead with a cord tied around his neck at a vacant government plot in north Delhi’s Mukhmelpur on Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Mukhmelpur, they said.
According to the post-mortem examination report, the probable cause of death appears to be hanging, police said.
Viscera has been preserved for further examination. The doctors also noticed an alcohol-like smell in the stomach contents.
Police received information regarding a body lying at a vacant government plot in Valmiki Mohalla and reached the spot, where Kumar was found with the cord around his neck. A similar cord was also found at the spot, police said.

According to Kumar’s brother, he was facing a matrimonial dispute with his wife and had been disturbed for some time. His brother found him dead in the morning and informed the police.
The crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory personnel inspected the spot, after which the body was sent for post-mortem examination at BJRM Hospital.
Police said an inquiry is underway from all angles to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Kumar’s death.
