
Delhi Police has arrested 415 wanted criminals, including 81 proclaimed offenders, during its ‘Operation Crackdown’ in the city’s northwest district from December 1 to 15, an official confirmed on Monday.
The operation, which involved more than 1,500 personnel, aimed at reducing criminal activities and ensuring public safety ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest), Abhishek Dhania.
Among those arrested, 81 were proclaimed offenders and parole violators. The operation targeted individuals involved in theft, robbery, and other serious crimes, leading to the detention of 21 people connected to organised crime, including bootlegging, gambling, narcotics, and street crimes.
As part of the crackdown, 61 individuals were arrested for drug trafficking, and 53 juveniles wanted in various cases were detained, 18 of whom were linked to serious offences, the DCP mentioned. Social media accounts of 67 juveniles were also deactivated to prevent the online glorification of criminal activities.
Additionally, 22 illegal weapons and live cartridges were seized, leading to 15 arrests. Preventive measures were applied against 81 individuals involved in arms act cases, according to the DCP.
The district police also investigated 44 cyber fraud cases, arresting 31 individuals. Fraudulent withdrawals totalling over Rs 9.5 lakh were successfully blocked.

A special drive against smuggling and illegal liquor distribution resulted in the seizure of 8,545 litres of illicit liquor and the arrest of 127 individuals. The police also acted on 107 gambling cases, arresting 127 people.
The DCP added that 55 arrests were made in 73 snatching cases. Over 15,000 preventive arrests were conducted during the operation, and 31 out of 51 missing Bad Characters (BCs) were located and arrested.
