Two suspected associates of the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang have been arrested by Delhi Police, with two country-made pistols, live cartridges and a stolen SUV car recovered from their possession, officials said on Tuesday.

Sonu alias Sahil Choudhary (36), a resident of Uttam Nagar, and Shivender alias Harsh alias Jakee (35), a resident of Burari, both have a history of criminal cases.

Police said Sonu has links to the Nandu gang with 12 criminal cases against him, including attempt to murder, kidnapping for carjacking, robbery, theft and Arms Act violations.

Shivender, a listed bad character (BC) of Subzi Mandi police station, has been involved in 29 criminal cases and was recently released from jail.

Police was conducting surveillance on known criminals when they received specific information about Sonu moving around in the Dabri area in a stolen SUV car with a fake registration plate.

A trap was laid in the Kesho Ram Park area of Bindapur and apprehended Sonu while he was travelling in the vehicle. During the search, police recovered a country-made pistol and live cartridges from his possession.

Verification through ZIPNET, a digital platform to track criminal cases, revealed that the SUV car had been stolen from the Maurya Enclave area in northwest Delhi, police said.

A case under relevant sections of the Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Dabri police station.

During sustained interrogation and police custody remand, Sonu allegedly disclosed the identity of the person who supplied him the weapon and the stolen car.

Based on his inputs and technical surveillance, police conducted a raid in Burari and arrested Shivender, who was in possession of a country-made pistol and live cartridge.

Police said Sonu had earlier come in contact with Vicky alias Sanyasi, a close associate of Kapil Sangwan, in 2023 and was allegedly involved in a firing incident in Palam targeting a woman over a property dispute.
