Video shows Thar hitting bike while recklessly cutting through Gurugram traffic, 2 injured

A Thar vehicle allegedly hit a motorcycle on Dwarka Expressway here, causing two people on it to fall on the busy road, police said on Sunday.

A purported dashcam video showed a recklessly driven black Mahindra Thar Roxx cutting through traffic late night, hitting the bike on its way, and then speeding away on the highway.

The SUV allegedly had a pending challan issued in August for reckless driving and jumping a red light, they said.

The two people on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries in this road accident and were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital.

Police took cognisance of the video that surfaced online, registered an FIR at the Sector-10 police station on Sunday and said that the driver will be arrested soon.

On impact, the motorbike lost its balance, and the two young men were dragged along the road and sustained injuries, police added. The entire incident was recorded on the dashcam of a car behind the SUV.

According to doctors, the condition of both victims remains stable. Police officials said that despite the severity of the accident, the two young men survived only due to their helmets.

On identifying the Thar vehicle’s registration number from the video, police said that there was already a pending challan of Rs 5,000 against the vehicle for reckless driving and jumping a red light.

“We have obtained details of the vehicle’s owner, and various teams are conducting raids to nab the accused driver. The accused will be arrested soon,” said a senior police officer.
