Union Housing and Urban Affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri also expressed grief over the incident. “Deeply saddened at the loss of lives in the devastating fire accident in Delhi’s Mundka. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families & pray for speedy recovery of those injured,” Puri tweeted.
“Shocked and pained to know about this tragic incident. I am constantly in touch with officers. Our brave firemen are trying their best to control the fire and save lives. God bless all,” Kejriwal tweeted.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said he was distressed by the tragic fire accident at a building near Mundka metro station here and offered condolences to the bereaved families. “I wish for speedy recovery of the injured.”

Over 50 people were rescued from the building. According to fire department officials, information about the blaze was received around 4.45 pm following which more than 30 fire tenders were pressed into service. “The fire broke out in the building near pillar number 544 of the Delhi metro. Health Minister Satyendar Jain tweeted around 10.50 pm that “the fire was doused”.
“A magisterial enquiry has been ordered into the incident. The families of the deceased will be given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh, while the injured will be given Rs 50,000,” the chief minister said. He said it was a massive blaze and the bodies were charred to such an extent that it has become difficult to identify them. “The Delhi government has deployed help to identify the missing and the deceased,” Kejriwal added.
A tweet by Sitharaman said “Shocking news of fire in a building in Mundka, Delhi resulting in deaths of many people. Express my grief and condolences to all bereaved families. Hope the injured recover soon.”
