The Delhi Police has carried out 29 joint demolition drives with civic agencies on properties linked to drug traffickers since 2023 as part of an intensified crackdown on narcotics networks, the Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.

In response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said the demolitions in the national capital were conducted jointly with civic agencies during enforcement actions against individuals involved in drug trafficking.

However, he said, no properties belonging to drug traffickers have been formally seized by the Delhi Police so far.

The minister said the anti-drug campaign is being carried out under ‘Operation Kavach’, a focused enforcement drive launched by the Delhi Police to make the national capital drug-free. Since May 2023, 12 special operations have been conducted across different parts of the city.

During these operations, police teams raided 9,694 locations, leading to the registration of 851 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and 1,690 cases under the Delhi Excise Act, 2009.

A total of 2,640 people were arrested during the special drives, the minister said.

Rai further informed the House that between 2023 and February 15, 2026, the Delhi Police registered 5,467 FIRs related to drug offences and arrested 7,134 persons in connection with narcotics trafficking.

Police also seized around 17,435 kilograms of drugs, including charas, opium, ganja, smack, heroin, poppy seeds and cocaine during the period, according to the ministry.
