Delhi Fire Service (DFS) Director Atul Garg announced preparations for the upcoming G20 Summit in the national capital. He revealed that 35 fire tenders and 500 personnel would be dedicated to ensuring safety during the event.

Garg emphasized the department’s readiness to handle any fire-related emergencies.

In addition, DFS has acquired four specialized high-voltage water pumping machines to prevent waterlogging in the Rajghat area in case of rain. Garg highlighted the department’s vital role in G20 security preparations, emphasizing their commitment to addressing potential fire incidents.

Garg outlined the deployment strategy, dividing the summit area into three main parts: the meeting venue (Bharat Mandapam), where delegates will gather, the accommodations for dignitaries in prominent city hotels, and tourist destinations where dignitaries will visit. He mentioned that 35 fire tenders and 500 personnel would be dedicated to G20 duties, with employee holidays canceled to ensure preparedness.

DFS has designed a comprehensive plan to provide immediate assistance and respond to routine calls, even while managing their usual daily workload of approximately 100 fire calls. The department conducted mock drills to train the assigned crew members and deployed units with six to seven members each at key locations. These units will be well-prepared for any situation, covering important locations, including the Delhi airport.

The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to take place from September 9-10 at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
