A 42-year-old man was fatally attacked by a stray cattle in South Delhi’s Tigri, leading to a wave of frustration and anger among the locals. They alleged that despite numerous complaints about the surge in the population of stray animals in the vicinity, the municipal body hasn’t taken any concrete steps to address the issue.

Locals lamented the unchecked growth of illegal dairies in the area, which they believe is directly linked to the rise in the number of stray animals on the streets. The horrific incident, captured on a nearby CCTV camera, showed the man’s son helplessly screaming for assistance as the aggressive animal repeatedly stomped on his father.

The nephew of the deceased stated that the municipal body’s negligence had directly contributed to the death of his uncle. He emphasized the necessity for action, citing the recent increase in similar attacks by stray animals as evidence.

Responding to the incident, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has announced that it will act against the illegal dairies, cutting off their electricity and water connections, and sealing them in cooperation with the Delhi Police.

Despite numerous complaints from residents, the MCD had not taken effective measures to tackle the issue of stray animals in the area. A police officer, speaking about the incident, confirmed that the authorities were working to ascertain whether the animal responsible for the attack was owned by someone.

The deceased, who had been attacked by the cattle, was later taken to Batra Hospital for treatment, but he tragically succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning.
