G20 Flags: Flags of countries participating in the upcoming G20 Summit, near Rajghat
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi announced on Monday that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has devised a comprehensive nine-point plan to maintain the city’s cleanliness even after the conclusion of the G20 Summit.
During a press conference, AAP’s MCD incharge, Durgesh Pathak, emphasized the need to tackle the issue of illegal garbage dumping in unauthorized colonies, particularly on vacant plots. Pathak explained that numerous such plots had already been identified and cleaned, but the mission aimed to identify and clean even more areas swiftly. The ultimate goal was to eliminate garbage dumps across Delhi in a short timeframe.
Pathak further addressed concerns about where residents should dispose of their waste if such dumping was prohibited, assuring that arrangements had been made to address this challenge. He also stressed that the MCD would take appropriate actions against those who failed to adhere to government directives.
Pathak acknowledged the problem of garbage being dumped in drains and stated that the MCD would embark on a mission to clean all the drains throughout Delhi. He also underscored the commitment to ensure daily maintenance and cleanliness of the city’s parks.
Pathak highlighted the success of the MCD 311 app, which had received positive feedback. He revealed that, within the last 25 days, around 13,000 garbage sites had been identified, with ongoing efforts to enhance the app further. Pathak expressed a dedication to finding swift solutions to the city’s cleanliness challenges.
He further outlined the plan for regular feedback gathering by Delhi’s Mayor and MCD officials from all employees involved in the initiative. Daily cleaning directives were issued twice a day for all market areas in Delhi to maintain their cleanliness. Vigilant monitoring would ensure the effectiveness of these efforts. Pathak also stressed the MCD’s responsibility to provide essential resources and support for sanitation workers during these endeavors.
