At least five new programmes are being added to the curriculum at Dr B R Ambedkar University, Delhi (AUD) for the upcoming academic session 2026-27, along with the addition of one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes for seven disciplines under the Post Graduate Curriculum Framework (PGCF).

In a press conference held at the Kashmere Gate campus, officials shared that admissions for the 2026-27 session will mark a significant expansion in academic offerings.

“New postgraduate programmes such as MA in Creative Writing and MA in Performing Arts (Theatre Arts), and undergraduate programmes such as BA in Museology, Culture and Heritage Management, which is among the first of its kind in India at the university level, are being introduced from this academic session,” university officials said.

They added that another course being introduced is BA Visual Arts, along with BSc Mathematics, which is restructured from BA (H) Mathematics and will include a minor in data science and artificial intelligence.

“The university is also among the first in the country to introduce one-year postgraduate programmes in disciplines such as psychology, English, Hindi, economics, sociology, history and political science, in alignment with NEP 2020. Graduates of four-year BA programmes from any university can apply to these programmes on the basis of CUET PG results,” they shared.

A university official associated with the admission process said that the PG admission is expected to start in the coming week, though the dates are yet to be announced. UG admission will start at a later stage, after CUET (UG) results are out.

“The idea we are exploring is that the two-year PG and one-year PG programmes admission will run parallel. Since this is the first year of the one-year programme, the admission this year will also help in understanding the patterns of applications from students,” the official told PTI.

Meanwhile, addressing the conference, the vice chancellor of the university Anu Singh Lather asserted that the university’s academic framework reflects its long-standing leadership in educational innovation, having implemented key elements of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including continuous evaluation systems, interdisciplinary learning and flexible curricular pathways well before their formal adoption at the national level.

Officials shared that for the academic year 2026–27, the university is offering over 3,000 seats across 78 courses in its undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. Admissions will be conducted through CUET-UG, CUET-PG and NCET, with applications to be submitted through the university’s admission portal.

To make the application process more accessible, applicants may apply to multiple programmes through a single registration fee, with fee relaxations available for reserved categories, they added.

“Financial assistance remains central to the university’s support system. A 100 per cent fee waiver is provided to all students from SC, ST and PwBD categories, alongside graded waivers for economically disadvantaged students,” the officials said.
