Gupta was accompanied by Education Minister Ashish Sood and Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra.

“We are pleased to provide ‘Vidya Vahini’ bicycles to Class 9 girl students of Delhi government schools. It will become a medium of dignity and help them safely commute to schools,” Gupta said on the occasion.

According to officials, in the first phase of the scheme announced in the budget this year, 3,000 bicycles were distributed. A total of 1.40 lakh bicycles will be given to schoolgirls across Delhi in a phased manner over the next month.

The initiative aims to make commuting to school easier, encourage regular attendance, and help girls become more self-reliant and confident, they said.
