The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Government and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to explore the possibility of installing advanced cardiac life support facilities at three major interchange metro stations, namely, Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk and Hauz Khas.
While hearing a suo motu matter initiated in 2018, a division bench of Justice Manmohan and Justice Saurabh Banerjee directed the authorities to file a fresh status report on the aspect before August 01, the next hearing date.
The counsel appearing for Delhi Government apprised the bench that government is in talks with the District Authorities of Tis Hazari as well as Rouse Avenue Courts to install ACLS service in the court premises.
It was further submitted that as of now, the government has provided three ACLS ambulances at the three major interchange metro stations in question.
On the other hand, the counsel representing DMRC submitted that space is available at the metro stations to install the ACLS service.
Taking note of the said submission, the court ordered, “In view of the aforesaid statement, learned counsel for DMRC and GNCTD are directed to explore the possibility of installation of ACLS facility at the three major interchange metro stations forthwith.”
Last year, the bench had directed the Delhi Government to ensure that ACLS facility is installed in its premises and also to explore the possibility of either stationing ACLS ambulances in every District Court or allowing the setting up of portable cabins for the same.
It had also directed the Delhi Metro to explore the possibility of setting up the facility at all significant interchange stations. (With inputs from PTI)
