An officer noted that National Highway 8, National Highway 24, Ring Road, and Rohtak Roads are among the areas where the highest number of fatal accidents have occurred.

The officer attributed these accidents to reckless driving, drunk driving, and various hit-and-run incidents.

On Monday, a truck in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park area ran over five people who were sleeping on the footpath, resulting in four fatalities. The driver of the truck was suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol, leading to a loss of control, the officer said.

The officer added that the traffic police have implemented several measures, including the installation of speed cameras, to regulate vehicle speeds and reduce accidents. These efforts have contributed to a decrease in the number of accidents in Delhi.  (With inputs from PTI)
