Delhi: A 100-feet tall mobile tower collapsed in south Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave early Sunday due to strong winds and rain, police said.

No one was injured due to the collapse, they added.

According to the residents of Block B2, the incident occurred around 4 am when strong winds accompanied by rain hit the area.

Former AAP MLA from Malviya Nagar, Somnath Bharti, visited the site later and interacted with the residents.

“A mobile tower, erected in B2 Safdarjung Enclave in spite of heavy protests by the residents and myself, fell yesterday night. What if this had fallen in day time or towards the buildings of B2? Such callousness is criminal!,” Bharti said in a post on X.

Further details awaited.

A family-operated automobile lifting syndicate, which allegedly stole over two dozen vehicles in recent months from Delhi’s Dwarka area, has been dismantled, the police said on Saturday. Raman (56), his son Sagar (31), and his son-in-law Neeraj (29), allegedly stole more than two dozen cars from across Delhi and the neighbouring states in the past several months. The trio formed a close-knit syndicate comprised solely of family members, a strategy devised by the kingpin Raman to minimise the risk of betrayal and leaks of operational information to authorities, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said.

Work on new liquor policy underway, to be introduced soon: Delhi govt

The Delhi government is in the process of finalising a new liquor policy, with a high-level committee expected to submit its proposal by June 30, officials said. According to an official statement, the proposed policy aims to modernise the liquor sale and distribution system while ensuring transparency, accountability, and public health safeguards. It will also focus on maintaining social balance and protecting vulnerable communities from any adverse impact. The policy is being drafted by a committee headed by Chief Secretary Dharmendra Kumar, which is currently reviewing excise policies from other states to incorporate best practices.
