A 73-year-old motorist was arrested after his vehicle allegedly hit a biker on Africa Avenue Road in the R K Puram area of Delhi, injuring the motorcyclist, police said on Friday.
Police said a blue-coloured car, allegedly driven by Venu Gopal, a Vasant Kunj resident, hit the motorcycle around 10 pm on Thursday while travelling from Bhikaji Cama Place towards R K Puram Metro Station in South Delhi. At that time, the 21-year-old Tanish Tokas, a Munirka village resident, was sitting on his parked motorcycle on the roadside.
Due to the impact, Tokas fell from the motorcycle. The car dragged the vehicle for some distance.
They said Tokas himself was not dragged by the vehicle. Police said he was medically examined and did not suffer any serious injury.
Police received information about the accident at R K Puram police station around 10:22 pm, after which personnel rushed to the spot.
Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at RK Puram police station, seized the car, and apprehended Gopal.
The accused was also medically examined, and no alcohol was detected, police said.
