
More than 1,090 cases of alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations have been registered in Delhi, an official reported on Thursday.
These cases were recorded between January 7, when the MCC came into effect, and February 5.
A total of 35,020 individuals have been arrested or detained under various provisions of preventive action and other legal acts, according to a statement.
Delhi Police has registered 1,098 cases related to MCC violations and seized 472 illegal firearms along with 534 cartridges, leading to the arrest of 496 individuals under the Arms Act, the statement added.
Additionally, law enforcement authorities have confiscated 1,14,699 litres of liquor, arrested 1,423 people, and seized 206.712 kg of drugs valued at over Rs 77.9 crore. More than 1,200 banned injections have also been confiscated, with 179 arrests made so far.
Authorities have further seized Rs 11.70 crore in cash and 37.39 kg of silver, as per the statement.

Meanwhile, voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly concluded peacefully last evening, with a recorded voter turnout of approximately 60.42%. North East Delhi registered the highest polling percentage at 66.25%, while South East Delhi recorded the lowest at 56.16%.
In other districts, Shahdara saw a voter turnout of 63.94%, North Delhi recorded 59.55%, and North West Delhi witnessed 60.70% of eligible voters casting their votes.
The fate of several prominent political leaders is now locked in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Among the notable candidates were Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Manish Sisodia from the Aam Aadmi Party. The Bharatiya Janata Party fielded leaders such as Parvesh Verma, Vijender Gupta, Arvinder Singh Lovely, and Ramesh Bidhuri, while the Congress had key contenders including Devendra Yadav, Sandeep Dixit, and Alka Lamba. In total, 699 candidates participated in the elections.
