Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has assured that the city’s roads will be pothole-free before the onset of the monsoon. Following a midnight inspection on Sunday of the ongoing road repairs along the Outer Ring Road, from Madhuban Chowk to Mukarba Chowk, Gupta instructed officials to prioritise public convenience and ensure no negligence in the project’s execution.
A government statement quoted her as saying, “I am committed to making Delhi’s roads pothole-free before the monsoon and have issued the necessary directives to all relevant agencies.”
The government is taking every possible measure to improve the city’s infrastructure, with the construction of a 4 km stretch from Madhuban Chowk to Mukarba Chowk being one of the key initiatives. The project aims to ensure high-quality execution and timely completion.
Executed by the PWD Northern Zone, the work involves strengthening both sides of the Outer Ring Road along the elevated corridor. Cold milling and hot recycling techniques are being employed to guarantee long-lasting durability.

Gupta further revealed that the road strengthening project, valued at Rs 12.85 crore, will include a two-layer reinforcement process. The first layer will use dense bitumen macadam (DBM), while the second will consist of dense bitumen concrete (DBC). Additionally, cold milling is being used to remove existing road layers for proper levelling. To improve visibility at night, thermoplastic paint, glow studs, and median markers are being installed. A 50mm thick stone matrix asphalt (SMA) layer is also being laid near the elevated flyover.
