A Delhi court on Wednesday denied bail to an SUV driver and four owners of the basement of a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar, which was flooded with rainwater, leading to the deaths of three civil services aspirants.

Judicial Magistrate Vinod Kumar turned down the bail requests of the driver, Manuj Kathuria, and the basement owners, Tejinder Singh, Parvinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarabjeet Singh.

“All the bail applications are dismissed,” the judge said.

Kathuria is accused of driving his Force Gurkha vehicle through a street flooded by rainwater, which allegedly caused the water level to rise and break through the gates of the three-story building, flooding the basement.

The four co-owners have been charged with aiding and abetting these offences.

All five accused were arrested on Monday.
