Delhi Elections: Several restaurants in the national capital offered concessions on prices of food on the menu for those who voted in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.
A directive for the same was passed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) calling it- ‘Democracy discount to all the inked voters’ in the NDMC areas. As per the list, 92 restaurants are offering a discount ranging from 10% to 25%.
Sahil, a local of Delhi who voted this morning went to KFC at Connaught Place to avail the concessional food. “It is really a good initiative that these restaurants are offering. Such incentives attract voters to the polling booths.”
“I was given choco lava cake free of cost by the restaurant management,” he added.
“It is great to see such an innovative way to woo the voters. At least voters get to eat good food at cheaper rates. Such offers should continue,” said Subhash, another voter.

Another voter, Vikrant Singh said earlier they didn’t plan to vote. “But when we learnt that we will be getting concession on food, we decided to go,” said Singh who relished the food at Taco Bell restaurant.
The restaurants offering concession on the food includes Gola Sizzler, Caffe Hawkers, Pind Balluchi, Super Chay, KFC, Taco Bell, Biryani Blues, Local, Mirchi Tadka, among others.
Aman, General Manager KFC, Connaught Place told Patriot that they are offering free choco lava cake to its customers who have voted.
“They have to show their inked fingers and we will give them free choco lava cake with an order of up to Rs 399. This is valid for only one day because of the polling,” he said.
“We are offering a 10% discount on the beverages, desserts, tacos, burrito rolls, wraps and rice bowls,” said Jatin, manager of Taco Bell restaurant.
Susheel Kumar, manager of Biryani Blues restaurant stated that they are offering a 25% discount on food. “We are known for making unique biryanis. We are offering the discount on all biryanis, including chicken biryani thali, egg biryani thali, paneer biryani thali among others,” he added.

“We request the voters in Delhi to come and avail the benefits,” said Yogesh Sharma, manager of Local restaurant.
It is pertinent to mention here that Delhi has enforced dry days from May 23 to May 25 and again on June 4 due to the Lok Sabha elections 2024. No liquor and wine will be served at this time. This directive, issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), aimed to maintain public order and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
