A fire broke out at a coaching institute situated on the fourth and fifth floors of a building in central Delhi on Sunday, according to a Delhi Fire Services official.
The incident caused panic among students and staff, though no casualties were reported.
The fire department was alerted at 11.08 am about the blaze on Bada Bazar Road in Old Rajinder Nagar.
“Eight fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was brought under control by 12:20 PM,” the official stated.
Preliminary findings suggest the fire was likely caused by a short circuit. Further investigation is currently underway.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, another fire broke out at a hotel in west Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, officials said.
There were no injuries reported in this incident either.
The fire, reported around 1.15 pm, erupted in a room and a hall on the third floor of the hotel, located near the East Paschim Vihar metro station. The hotel comprises a basement, ground floor, and three upper storeys.
