A fire broke out in one of the rooms of the Revenue Building at ITO in Delhi on Friday, an official said. According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), no casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire was reported around 10 am from Room No. 238 on the second floor of the building. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and the flames were successfully brought under control, officials added.

Meanwhile, at least six people, including a three-year-old girl, were injured in five separate fire incidents reported from various parts of the national capital on Thursday, officials said.

In southeast Delhi’s New Friends Colony, a fire erupted at a residence around 9.35 am while two workers were cleaning sofa sets using thinner, a highly inflammable liquid. The fire reportedly started when the thinner caught fire during the cleaning process.

The injured workers — Satish Kumar and Satender — sustained 20% and 50% burns respectively. They were initially taken to Holy Family Hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment. Police said legal action is being taken in the matter.

In a separate incident in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur area, four individuals — Raj Kumar (70), his wife Reshma (50), their granddaughter Durga (3), and a 14-year-old neighbour Firdaus — were injured in a fire triggered by a gas leak from a small 5 kg LPG cylinder inside a jhuggi.

The fire broke out when a matchstick was lit in the shanty. All four victims were rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. The DFS said the fire was reported at around 11.17 am and brought under control by 11.45 am. Police clarified that there was no explosion, contrary to the initial PCR call that mentioned a cylinder blast.

Three other fire incidents were also reported during the day. In Janakpuri, a house fire prompted the deployment of eight fire tenders. Another blaze occurred in a shop in Chandni Chowk, where eight fire tenders were also dispatched. No injuries were reported in either case.

In west Delhi’s Pankha Road area, two buses and a car were damaged in a fire. No casualties were reported in that incident either. Officials said investigations are underway in all the reported cases.
