Delhi govt making every effort to ensure waterlogging-free monsoon: CM Gupta

In a determined effort to keep the national capital free from waterlogging during the monsoon season, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday announced a series of proactive measures, including the deployment of automatic pumps and personnel at vulnerable locations.

Accompanied by Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma, Gupta conducted an inspection of the waterlogging-prone Minto Bridge underpass to assess the city’s readiness ahead of the rains.

“Automatic pumps have been installed here to drain out water during heavy rainfall, and a 2.5-kilometre-long pipeline has been laid to channel the accumulated water away. Additionally, operators will be on round-the-clock duty to ensure swift action,” she stated.

The Chief Minister added that all vulnerable points across the city have been identified, and appropriate corrective measures are being implemented. “The Delhi government is committed to taking all necessary steps in a time-bound manner to ensure the city remains free from waterlogging this year,” she told reporters.

Gupta is also scheduled to inspect other key monsoon-sensitive areas, including Ring Road near the WHO building and the Pul Prahladpur underpass, as part of the government’s broader preparedness strategy.
