The Delhi government reports that the schools have received almost 92,000 applications for admission for the 2023–24 school year.
The ASOSE consists of Armed Forces Preparatory School, where 32 out of 76 students from the first batch qualified for the NDA written exam this year, School of High-end 21st Century Skills, Humanities, School of Performing and Visual Arts, School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
In 2021, the Delhi government set up ASoSEs throughout the city in order to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s vision of providing specialised learning opportunities for students affiliated with the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) who have a strong interest and aptitude in a particular subject starting in secondary school (classes 9–12).
For students aiming to get into these schools in classes 9 and 11, a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (best of five, including science and mathematics) will be required. Additionally, candidates from reserved categories are offered a 5% eligibility mark relaxation per DoE policy.
Students from government or government-aided schools in Delhi will occupy at least half of the seats in each ASoSE, with the remaining seats open to students from any approved school in Delhi.
