Delhi likely to see cloudy skies, moderate rain on Tuesday

The national capital is likely to receive rain on Tuesday as the weather office issued a ‘yellow alert’ for generally cloudy skies and moderate rain, with the minimum temperature settling at 26 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature at the Safdarjung weather station, considered the city’s base station, settled at 26 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

Palam recorded a minimum of 24.6 degrees Celsius, 2.1 notches below normal, while Lodi Road recorded 26 degrees Celsius, normal for the season.

The Ridge recorded a minimum of 23.3 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches below normal, and Ayanagar recorded 26.7 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notch above normal.

The city received 4 mm of rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday. Lodi Road recorded 4.8 mm of rainfall, while the Ridge received 6.9 mm. Palam recorded trace rainfall and Ayanagar recorded no rainfall during the period.

The weather office has forecast generally cloudy skies with moderate rain during the day, with the maximum temperature expected to settle at around 33 degrees Celsius.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am stood at 75, falling in the “satisfactory” category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The CPCB classifies an AQI of 0-50 as “good”, 51-100 as “satisfactory”, 101-200 as “moderate”, 201-300 as “poor”, 301-400 as “very poor” and 401-500 as “severe”.
