Delhi: Man beaten to death in Tilak Nagar, 2 held

Delhi: A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death following an argument in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area, the police said on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Pintu, was rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital at around 9:45 pm on Tuesday. Doctors pronounced him dead.

Two people have been apprehended in the matter, the police said.

“Preliminary enquiry revealed that Pintu quarrelled with two people who allegedly punched and kicked him brutally,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said.

Eyewitness accounts and local inputs helped identify the two suspects, who have been apprehended and are being interrogated, he added.

Senior officers rushed to the hospital and also visited the site of the incident, following which a case was registered and police teams were formed to nab the accused, the DCP said.

Further investigation is underway.

Delhi: DU college asks students, staff to follow VC’s X account, share posts

Delhi University’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh College has asked its students and staff members to follow the official X account of Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh and actively share his posts expressing solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces. In an official notice dated May 12 and signed by Principal Arun Kumar Attree, the Shaheed Bhagat Singh College administration said, “All teachers, staff members, and students of the college are hereby requested to follow the Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh’s official Twitter (now X) account.” The college community is “encouraged to retweet the posts shared through the platform” as a gesture of support and gratitude towards the country’s defence forces, it said.

Delhi hospitals step up preparations to tackle heatwave

As Delhi reels from the memory of one of the most severe and prolonged heatwaves in 2024, hospitals across the city are not only reflecting on their response to the crisis but are actively preparing for another challenging summer in 2025. With temperatures repeatedly soaring past 42°C last year, prominent medical institutions such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, Safdarjung Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital (LNH), and Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital had mobilised extensive emergency infrastructure—including heatstroke wards, helplines, and rapid response systems.
