Delhi: A 21-year-old man fatally stabbed his wife and left her body in his car in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area, officials said on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Gautam, was arrested while attempting to flee from a police officer patrolling the area, they added.
According to the police, the incident came to light when Ajay, a head constable from Khayala Police Station, noticed Gautam behaving suspiciously without a shirt at around 1:20 am.
Upon questioning, Gautam confessed to killing his wife, Manya (20), and abandoning her body in the car.
Further interrogation revealed that Gautam, a resident of Raghubir Nagar, had married Manya in March without their families’ approval, an officer stated.

Despite their marriage, they continued to live with their respective families and only met occasionally, the officer explained.
On Sunday night, Gautam met Manya in a car at a location in Titarpur, Rajouri Garden area.
“Around 11 pm, Manya insisted they start living together, leading to an argument in the car,” another police officer said.
Gautam then stabbed Manya multiple times. Realizing she was dead, he parked the car near the Shivaji College red light and attempted to flee, but was apprehended by Head Constable Ajay, the officer said.
