The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 will be tabled before the Rajya Sabha on Monday, after it was passed in the Lower House.

The Lok Sabha passed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which replaces the ordinance on transfers and postings of senior officers in the Delhi government.

The bill is scheduled for discussion and voting in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, with Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi likely to lead the debate from the opposition side.

Singhvi previously represented the Delhi government in the Supreme Court regarding administrative services control.

On Friday, leaders of the INDIA bloc met with Piyush Goyal and Pralhad Joshi to resolve the ongoing impasse on the Manipur issue. The opposition requested the revocation of Congress MP Rajani Patil’s suspension and may receive a “sympathetic view.”

However, AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s suspension is unlikely to be lifted. The government is prepared to discuss the Manipur issue, awaiting Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar’s decision on the discussion rules.

The opposition members have been urged to share their draft proposal for the discussion, yet it’s still pending as of Monday.
