The Delhi Police have arrested three individuals and confiscated over 1,300 kilograms of illegal firecrackers from various parts of the capital, according to officials on Sunday.
The suspects were identified as Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Atri, and Vipin Kumar.
Officials stated that Manoj Kumar had been involved in the sale of banned firecrackers since the Covid lockdowns, while Atri was responsible for supplying them.
“A total of 1,323 kilograms of banned firecrackers were recovered from two warehouses. The owner of both warehouses and the driver who delivered the firecrackers have been apprehended,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Kumar.
Following a tip-off, police conducted a raid on Friday in Baprola village, located in outer Delhi, and seized the illegal firecrackers.
Police said Manoj Kumar and driver Sanjay Atri were the first to be arrested.
During interrogation, the two revealed they supplied the firecrackers to Prem Nagar and Kirari areas.
“They also disclosed information about another warehouse, leading to the arrest of Vipin. Further investigation into the case is ongoing,” the DCP added.
