Delhi Police announces traffic restrictions at Connaught Place on Sunday morning

Delhi Police has announced that traffic restrictions will be in place on the Inner Circle of Connaught Place for three hours on Sunday morning owing to “Raahgiri Day”.
Raahgiri Day aims to create sustainable and safer cities with a focus on sustainable mobility. The event is being organised by the  Delhi Traffic Police in partnership with the Raahgiri Foundation.
“Raahgiri Day is a way to experientially show people that streets are not just made for cars, by reclaiming our streets and using them for community leisure activities. It is a day that  aims at promoting safety of pedestrians and cyclists by making a particular stretch of road vehicle-free and then opening up the street for citizens to celebrate health, well-being and fitness by indulging in activities such as walking, cycling, skating, street games, aerobics, Zumba, etc,” Delhi Traffic Police advisory reads.
A huge gathering is expected to visit Connaught Place area to participate in these activities.
To celebrate this festival, the Inner circle of Connaught Place will be made vehicle-free from 0600 hours to 1100 hours on 24.09.2023, said the Delhi police in an advisory.
According to advisory, to ensure smooth traffic management in the vicinity of Inner Circle of Connaught no vehicles will be allowed on any of the radial roads entering from Outer Circle to Inner Circle of Connaught Place. • No vehicle will be allowed to halt or park anywhere on Inner Circle of Connaught Place.
Vehicles found parked on the above roads shall be towed away and prosecuted for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions. Towed vehicles would be parked at Kali Bari Pit, it said.
Participants and visitors to Raahgiri event are requested to park their vehicles at DLF Multi-level parking on Baba Kharak Singh Marg Parking slots on Outer Circle of Connaught Place, it added.
Commuters are requested to cooperate by avoiding/bypassing the Inner Circle of Connaught Place from their travel plans. We appreciate your cooperation towards celebration of this citizen-initiative for reimagining public spaces and promoting sustainable mobility, reads the advisory.
