Delhi records 26.8 deg Celsius min temp; likely to see rain

Delhi logged a minimum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees above normal, on Saturday and is expected to see moderate rain during the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

According to the IMD, the city is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky. The national capital saw light to moderate rain in many parts on Friday.

The 24-hour cumulative rainfall recorded till 8.30 am was 1.8 mm at Safdarjung, 4.7 mm at Palam, 2.4 mm at Lodhi Road, 10.6 mm at Ridge and 10.3 mm at Ayanagar.

The stations recorded 1.5 mm, 4.2 mm, 2.2 mm, 10.6 mm and 10 mm, between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Friday.

Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees above normal, while Palam recorded 24.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.

Lodhi Road recorded 26.2 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees above normal; Ayanagar recorded 25.5 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degrees above normal, while Ridge recorded 22.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.

The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 31 degrees Celsius, the weather office said.

Rain is expected to continue in the national capital till September 16.

The air quality in the national capital remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with the Air Quality Index standing at 63 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

As per the CPCB, an AQI of 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401-500 ‘severe’.
