Delhi experienced relatively pleasant weather on Thursday, with the minimum temperature recorded at 25.9 degrees Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the national capital is expected to see a mix of rain and thunderstorms during the day. These weather conditions are likely to bring some relief from the prevailing summer heat and could also help in improving the city’s air quality.

Humidity levels remained high in the early hours, with the relative humidity measured at 80 percent at 8:30 am. The high moisture content in the air, combined with cloud cover, indicates a strong likelihood of precipitation later in the day. The maximum temperature is predicted to reach around 36 degrees Celsius, which is close to the average for this time of the year.

On the air quality front, Delhi saw a slight improvement. As per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 74 at 9 am, placing it in the ‘satisfactory’ category. The AQI scale defines values between 0 and 50 as ‘good’, 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory’, and 101 to 200 as ‘moderate’. Air quality beyond these levels is considered increasingly harmful to health, with categories ranging from ‘poor’ to ‘severe’.

The expected rainfall and thunderstorms could help in further bringing down pollution levels by washing away dust and other particulates from the atmosphere. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and carry umbrellas or raincoats when stepping out. Overall, the day promises a relatively cooler and cleaner environment in comparison to the typical hot and humid August weather in Delhi.
