Delhi reported 43 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with a positivity rate of 1.8 percent, according to data released by the city government’s health department. There were no new deaths linked to the virus. With these new cases, Delhi’s total COVID-19 tally has reached 20,40,347, while the death toll stands at 26,649, as per the latest bulletin issued by the health department.
On Wednesday, the city recorded 75 coronavirus cases with a positivity rate of 3.43 percent and one COVID-related fatality. The fresh cases were detected from 2,387 tests conducted the previous day, as mentioned in the bulletin. The number of active COVID-19 cases in Delhi is currently 441, with 341 patients under home isolation.
On Tuesday, Delhi reported 77 fresh COVID cases with a positivity rate of 3.27 percent, along with two fatalities related to the infection. The city also recorded 37 new COVID cases with a positivity rate of 3.89 percent and two deaths on Monday.
Over the weekend, Delhi saw a slight increase in cases, with 119 COVID cases, a positivity rate of 5.5 percent, and three COVID-related deaths on Sunday. On Saturday, the city recorded 113 cases, with a positivity rate of 8.21 percent and three deaths.
According to the bulletin, out of the 7,976 COVID-19 beds available in city hospitals, only 72 are currently occupied.
Delhi had reported zero new COVID cases on January 16, marking the first time since the pandemic began. However, the city has witnessed a surge in cases over the past month. In response, mock drills were conducted in Delhi hospitals on April 11 to assess their preparedness to handle any potential surge in cases. (With inputs from PTI)
