The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Saturday and predicted generally cloudy sky with light rain during the day.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi improved to ‘moderate’ with AQI settling at 152 at 9 am on Saturday, according to Central Pollution Control Board data.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.

Humidity was at 100 per cent at 8.30 am on Saturday.

Meanwhile,

An ‘orange’ warning was issued in Delhi following rain that lashed several parts of the national capital and its adjoining areas on Friday, disrupting traffic in many locations.

The weather office has predicted more rain throughout the day.

Traffic was affected in several areas of south, central, and north Delhi due to the rainfall.

The weather office reported that the rain began in Delhi-NCR around 2:30 am.

According to data from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded until 11:30 am, the Safdarjung observatory, the primary weather station for the national capital, registered 9.1 mm of rainfall.

Other rainfall measurements included 8.4 mm at Palam, 10.8 mm at Lodhi Road, 9 mm at the Ridge, 11 mm at Delhi University, and 9.5 mm at Pusa.

The weather officials attributed the light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms across northwest and central India, including the Delhi NCR region, to an active western disturbance and its interaction with easterly winds.

The weather office, which has forecast light to moderate rain for the remainder of the day, defines an ‘orange’ warning as a call to “be prepared.”
