As the claims and objections period under SIR in Delhi nears its end, only 2.71 lakh applications seeking inclusion in the voter list have been filed since the publication of the draft rolls, with West Delhi accounting for the highest number.

Form 6 is used by eligible voters seeking inclusion in the electoral rolls.

According to a report released by the office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer on Wednesday, 2,71,639 Form 6 applications were received between August 31 and October 27, after the exclusion of 47,56,722 electors from the draft list published on August 31 during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

West Delhi recorded the highest number of Form 6 applications filed at 33,377, followed by North West Delhi at 27,341, East Delhi at 26,212, South East Delhi at 26,054 and North East Delhi at 25,973.

The figures come as the claims and objections period, which began with the publication of the draft electoral rolls for all 70 assembly constituencies, is set to close on October 30.

During the same period, Delhi received 20,654 Form 7 applications and 1,02,149 Form 8 applications. South West Delhi recorded the highest number of Form 7 applications at 3,152 and North East Delhi topped the Form 8 category with 13,373 applications.

Form 7 is filed for deletion of names and Form 8 for correction or modification of entries.

The draft rolls contained 97,53,577 electors, against 1.45 crore voters before the revision began on June 30. The 47.5 lakh electors whose enumeration forms were not submitted were excluded from the draft rolls.

Separately, notices were issued to 33,14,032 electors whose names appeared in the draft rolls but whose records were flagged for mapping-related issues or logical discrepancies.

As of October 27, poll officials had disposed of 31,26,576 notices, or 94.34 per cent of the total. The remaining notices are to be disposed of by November 30.

The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 4.
